My story

I am Mirangi and the founder of La Mira. I live in beautiful Adelaide in South Australia and am lucky to call it my home. I live here with my husband and my cute little daughter.
I am restarting my small business from scratch again as La Mira Australia after a 6 year long hiatus. La Mira was initially started back in 2011 when I lived in Sri Lanka.
Sewing has always been a passion of mine and passed on to me by my loving maternal grandmother and my mother. I was only 8 years old when I used a sewing machine for the first time. Since I was 13 years old I always used to stitch my own pencil case. I started sewing quilted pencil cases for a school project in 2010 and I continued to sell them even after the project ended. I created the brand La Mira in 2011 after I left school and started selling them to one of the biggest clothing retail stores in Sri Lanka. I continued my small business while I was studying full time and that led to hiring a team of three sewing machine operators. La Mira sold nearly 40,000 pouches from 2011 to 2018.
In 2018 I got married and moved to Adelaide. Life happened and the past 6 years have been busy settling down and growing my beautiful family here. I deeply missed sewing pouches. So… here I am , starting my La Mira journey again from scratch.
In this journey of La Mira 2.0 I want to bring beautiful handmade pieces that are easy on the eye to use for your everyday use made from sustainable fabrics such as cotton and linen.
